Giannis Antetokounmpo becomes Bucks’s all-time leader in assists

Giannis Antetokounmpo may have played only a brief time on Thursday (and due to a wrist injury, his All-Star Appearance on Sunday in Salt Lake City is in question), but in the process, set the Bucks record for most assists all-time with 3274, in a 112-100 Milwaukee win over the Chicago Bulls at Chicago’s United Center.
Bucks shooting guard Paul Pressey of Richmond, Virginia had the old record with 3272 assists. He played for the Bucks from 1982 to 1990. The Bucks’s game over the Bulls on Thursday came on the final night of National Basketball Association games before the All-Star break. Antetokounmpo had seven rebounds, three assists, two assists, and was a +9 in nine minutes of 20 seconds of action.
Antetokounmpo is also the Bucks’s all-time leader in minutes played (22908), defensive rebounds (5493), free throws (3892), blocks (893), points (15817), and triple doubles (32). In fact according to ESPN, he is one of two players in NBA history, to lead his franchise in points, assists, and blocks.

Antetokounmpo is joined by former power forward Kevin Garnett of Greenville, South Carolina. Garnett had 19201 points, 4216 assists and 1590 blocks while with the Minnesota Timberwolves from 1995 to 2007, and again from 2014 to 2016. Garnett is also Minnesota’s all-time leader in games (970), minutes played (36189), field goals (7647), two-point field goals (7483), free throws (3743), offensive rebounds (2588), defensive rebounds (8130), total rebounds (10718), and triple doubles (16).
The Bucks all-time leader in total rebounds is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 7161. Antretokounmpo is second in Bucks history with 6721.
Antetokounmpo is also fourth all-time in Bucks history in offensive rebounds with 1228. He is behind Marques Johnson (1468), Sidney Moncrief (1393), and Terry Cummings (1307).
