Garrett Wilson makes spectacular TD catch for the Jets
1 year ago - Sportingbase
The New York Jets desperately needed a win on Thursday night. After their first eight games of the season, they had a horrible record of two wins and six losses. However on Thursday in East Rutherford, New Jersey, we saw some genuine signs of how good this Jets franchise could actually be.
There was a single play that was on top of the list. With two minutes and six seconds into the fourth quarter, Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson of Chicago, Illinois made a catch for the ages. With the Texans leading the Jets 10-7, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers of Chico, California, found Wilson in the end zone. Wilson leaped in the air, swung his arm back, and reached out to make the 26-yard touchdown catch. It put the Jets up 14-10 en route to a 21-13 win.
This is not the first time we have seen an unbelievable catch by a New York based team in prime time. A decade ago, Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants accomplished another amazing one handed catch against the Dallas Cowboys.
Wilson finished the game against the Texans with nine catches for 90 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He also had a major score in the third quarter, which tied the game at seven and put New York on the scoreboard for the first time.
It was also a memorable Halloween for newly acquired Jets wide receiver Davante Adams of East Palo Alto, California. He had his first TD catch (37 yards) since joining the Jets from the Las Vegas Raiders in a trade on October 15.
