Really good midweek card of racing at Belmont today on a very soggy Heavy 9.

Race 1 – 12:04PM FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PARK HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

5. Romantic Ruler – 1. Hear My Prayer – 2. Union Jack – 3. Big Red Hawk

Race 2 – 12:39PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET MAIDEN (1700 METRES)

9. On Guard M’Lady – 7. Candlelight Supper – 1. Tiger Move – 11. Affluential

Race 3 – 1:14PM SEACORP HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

1. Knot Secret – 4. Noble Born – 2. He’sgotwings – 5. Dais

Race 4 – 1:49PM WESTERN RACEPIX HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

4. Brighid – 6. Bird’s The Word – 7. Wise Cracker – 2. Civvy Street

Brighid

Thought the run of Brighid last start was huge on the wrong part of the track for the day. Stepped straight from a maiden win to a CL3, came out very wide from the 600m and never stopped coming at them through the line. Back to a CL1 here, drawn to sit one out, two back for Laqdar, this is much easier and she looks progressive, lots to like about her.

2 Units WIN

Bird’s The Word

Saving here on this Pearce brothers runner, steps back to a CL1 after a good run in Saturday 2yo grade last start when wide throughout, maps a treat from the draw and is already a winner on the Heavy track. Clint Johnston Porter takes the ride and has a serious book throughout the day.

1 Unit WIN

Race 5 – 2:24PM MORLEY GROWERS MARKET HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

5. Queenship – 1. Winning Aces – 7. Paeroa Lad – 8. Vitalize

Queenship

Queenship’s recent trial went straight into the black book. She looked ready to explode if asked for an effort, generally does her best racing fresh and is already placed on the Heavy (full to Boomtastic, who loved it wet). She can park up behind a sharp speed from the gate here and be getting over the top of these with her turn of foot. Pretty keen at the price.

3 Units WIN

Race 6 – 3:02PM HEINEKEN 3 HANDICAP (2200 METRES)

5. Special Picture – 2. Find Your Man – 6. Alkaline – 1. Sunsphere

Race 7 – 3:38PM ALL FLAGS SIGNS AND BANNERS HANDICAP (1700 METRES)

5. Sessions Peak – 4. Ghobella – 3. Kazkazi – 6. Canny Jack

[bet-au-1]

Race 8 – 4:15PM SCHWEPPES HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

7. Irritable Rodnee – 8. Rommel’s Jeuney – 6. Green And Shady – 3. Romancing The Rock

[bet-au-1]

Race 9 – 4:55PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

2. Agent Jay – 7. Honey Dew – 8. Mussa – 1. Magniforce

Agent Jay

Agent Jay looks ready to win and this looks a very nice race for him. Drops back from a 66+ into a 60+, was good last start when made to sit outside leader absorbing a really hot tempo and whacked away well through the line to only be beaten 3L. This has nowhere near the depth, Holly goes on and after the claim only gets in with an extra half kilo. With Magniforce and Trevern to come out running, I can see Holly following them across and falling into the box-seat here. Already a winner in heavy conditions, think he is certainly the one to beat here and looks very well-placed.

2.5 Units WIN

Staking Plan
  • Race 4 Brighid 2 Units WIN/Bird’s The Word 1 Unit WIN
  • Race 5 Queenship 3 Units WIN
  • Race 9 Agent Jay 2.5 Units WIN

8.5 Units Staked.
