The 2022 Pro Bowl rosters were announced on Wednesday according to ESPN. Among the notable starters include Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp, Packers wide receiver Davante Adams and Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Among the 88 players selected to the Pro Bowl which will take place on February 6 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada are four rookies. Let’s take a look at the first year players who are being recognized.

Ja’Marr Chase–Cincinnati Bengals

The rookie wide receiver out of Louisiana State University has had 61 catches for 1038 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. The 201 yards Chase recorded in Week 7, were the second most receiving yards by a wide receiver in one game in 2021. It came in a 41-17 Cincinnati Bengals blow out win over the Baltimore Ravens. Chase has not just been selected to the Pro Bowl, but will be starting too alongside Hill.

Micah Parsons–Dallas Cowboys

The rookie inside linebacker out of Penn State has been an instrumental reason why the Cowboys defense has improved so much in 2021 compared to 2020. Last season the Cowboys were averaging 29.6 points per game against, the fifth most in the National Football League. So far in 14 games in 2021, the Cowboys are averaging only 20.9 points per game against, the seventh fewest in the NFL.  Parsons has 12 sacks, 76 combined tackles (57 solo tackles and 19 assisted tackles), 27 quarterback hits, 17 tackles for a loss, three pass deflections and three forced fumbles. Like Chase, Parsons will be starting.

Kyle Pitts–Atlanta Falcons

The rookie tight end from Philadelphia was selected fourth overall out of the University of Florida, the highest a tight end has ever been taken in the NFL Draft. So far this season, Pitts has continued the strong excellence of tight ends in the Falcons organization, which includes Tony Gonzalez and Alge Crumpler. After 14 games, Pitts has 58 catches for 847 yards and one touchdown. He is set to backup George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers for the NFC.

Rashawn Slater–Los Angeles Chargers

The rookie offensive tackle will be starting alongside Orlando Brown Jr. of the Kansas City Chiefs. The native of Sugar Land, Texas is 6’3″, 315 pounds, and is one reason why Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and running back Austin Ekeler have had such productive seasons.
