According to Mansi Agarwal of current-affairs.org on Sunday, former National Football League offensive right tackle Shelby Jordan of St. Louis, Missouri died at the age of 70 on September 9. Jordan played 11 NFL seasons. He was with the New England Patriots from 1975 to 1982, and the Los Angeles Raiders from 1983 to 1986. Jordan was initially drafted by the Houston Oilers as a linebacker out of Washington University in St. Louis in 1973, but changed positions after signing with the Patriots.

While with the Patriots, Jordan had three fumble recoveries for 12 yards. The first two fumble recoveries came in Jordan’s rookie season of 1975. The third fumble recovery came in Jordan’s fourth NFL season in 1979.

Jordan also had an opportunity to win a Super Bowl. He was part of the Raiders squad that won Super Bowl XVIII in 1984. The Raiders defeated the Washington Redskins 38-9. At the time, the 29-point margin was the largest blowout in the history of the Super Bowl. The Raiders also set the record for the most points an AFC Team has scored in the Super Bowl.

Since the Raiders beat the Redskins by 29 points, five NFL teams have won the Super Bowl by more than 29 points. On January 26, 1986, the Chicago Bears beat the New England Patriots by 36 points (46-10). On January 31, 1988, the Washington Redskins beat the Denver Broncos by 32 points (42-10). On January 28, 1990, the San Francisco 49ers beat the Broncos by 45 points (55-10). On January 31, 1993, the Dallas Cowboys beat the Buffalo Bills by 35 points (52-17). On February 2, 2014, the Seattle Seahawks beat the Broncos by 35 points (43-8). The Seahawks quarterback at the time was Russell Wilson, who ironically was traded to the Broncos in the offseason.
