Former NBA All-Star Andre Iguodala retires at age 39

According to Tristi Rodriguez of Yahoo! Sports on Friday, small forward Andre Iguodala of Springfield, Illinois retired at the age of 39. Iguodala spent 19 seasons in the National Basketball Association. He was with the Philadelphia 76ers from 2004 to 2012, the Denver Nuggets from 2012 to 2013, the Golden State Warriors from 2013 to 2019 and 2021 to 2023, and the Miami Heat from 2019 to 2021.
In 1231 NBA regular season games, Iguodala averaged 11.3 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per game, 4.2 assists per game, and 1.4 steals per game. He also had a field goal percentage of .463, three-point percentage of .330, and free throw percentage of .709.
Iguodala had a career-high 19.9 points per game in 2007-08. He was an All-Star while with the 76ers in 2011-12. That year Iguodala had 12.4 points per game, 6.1 rebounds per game, 5.5 assists per game, 1.7 steals per game, a field goal percentage of .454, free throw percentage of .617, and a career three-point percentage of .394.
However, it is the playoffs, where Iguodala made his mark in the NBA. Four times with the Warriors, he won the NBA Finals (2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022). In fact in 2015, Iguodala was named the NBA Finals MVP. In six games, he averaged 16.3 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game, and four assists per game. Iguodala made 37 of 71 field goals, 14 of 35 three point attempts and 10 free throws for 98 points.
Iguodala was also part of the NBA All-Defensive Team in 2013-14. That year with the Warriors, he averaged 4.7 defensive rebounds per game, 1.5 steals per game, and 0.3 blocks per game. Iguodala was selected alongside forwards Paul George of the Indiana Pacers and Serge Ibaka of the Oklahoma City Thunder, center Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls, and guard Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers.
