Flemington Preview: He’s Ready To Earn His Stripes
3 years ago - Sportingbase
ENVER Jusufovic has endured a frustrating stretch with his stable star Pinstriped but he’s hoping his class will come to the fore in the VJA Winter Championship Trophy (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday.
Pinstriped hasn’t started since his return to the winner’s circle with his impressive win over 1600m at Sandown Lakeside on April 15.
Pinstriped was scratched recently after RV stewards deemed he wasn’t stabled at the correct training property before the race and they took him out.
“He also missed out on an Anzac Day run so he’s missed a couple of starts now. It’s five or six weeks between runs which is not ideal. I believe I’ve kept him up to the mark but the only concern is the five weeks between runs,” Jusufovic said on RSN on Friday morning.
Ben Allen is back on and other than that delay between runs I’m quite confident.”

The Cranbourne trainer said that the main danger would be the Gavin Bedgood trained Keats who was fit and should roll along in the front.
Pinstriped is a $2.40 favourite with TopSport. Keats is at $3.50.,
“I have the best horse in the race though,” he declared.
Jusufovic said he expected Pinstriped’s stablemate Vongole to run a big race fresh in the 3AW Sprint (1100m). He is $21 with TopSport.
BEST BET:
TAPA CAPALL (R4, No.16) $4.20 favourite TopSport
He hasn’t had a lot of luck in recent runs. The son of Fiorente will relish his first run over 2000 metres.
