UPDATE: On Monday, April 27, the Bulls named Marc Eversley their general manager.

Even though we are in the heart of a pandemic and no games are being played, it is business as usual in professional sports. Earlier in the week, the Chicago Bulls announced they fired general manager Gar Forman. Here are five possible candidates to be the next general manager in Chicago.

5) Arturas Karnisovas–There is a possibility that the Bulls could hire internally. On Monday the Bulls named Karnisovas to be their executive vice president of basketball operations. The native of Lithuania won a bronze medal for his country in men’s basketball at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and again at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Even though he is expected to hire a general manager with the Bulls, Karnisovas might decide he is the best candidate and hire himself. Karnisovas already has managerial experience in the NBA with the Denver Nuggets.

4) J.J. Polk–Also this past week, the Bulls hired J.J. Polk as their assistant general manager. Polk was previously the Executive Director of Basketball Administration with the New Orleans Pelicans. However due to the fact Polk was not hired as the general manager this week will probably mean he will remain the assistant GM for the Bulls.

3) Mark Hughes–Currently the assistant general manager of the Los Angeles Clippers, Hughes has been instrumental in a Clippers organization that is among the best teams in the NBA. With a record of 44 wins and 20 losses, they are second in the Western Conference and only behind the Los Angeles Lakers.

2) Marc Eversley–Currently the senior vice president of player personnel with the Philadelphia 76ers, Eversley could be promoted to a general manager role with the Bulls. He has also been the assistant general manager of the Toronto Raptors from 2006 to 2013.

1) Calvin Booth–The heavy favourite to be the next Bulls general manager is Calvin Booth. The primary reason is because of the familiarity factor he has with Karnisovas. However there is also a possibility that Booth could remain in Denver and be named the new general manager of the Nuggets. Booth also has 11 years of NBA playing experience with the Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks, Seattle SuperSonics, Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings.
