The final major of the 2020 golf season starts on Thursday with the 2020 United States Women’s Open from Houston, Texas. Here are the five most intriguing pairings from the first two rounds.

5) Brittany Lincicome/Christie Kerr/Gerina Piller–This pairing has three veteran Americans who are all 35 years old or older. Kerr and Lincicome are each two-time major champions. Kerr won the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open from Southern Pines, North Carolina, and the 2010 Women’s PGA Championship. Lincicome meanwhile won the ANA Inspiration twice in 2009 and 2015. Piller has been in the top 10 in six majors in the past, including two U.S. Women’s Opens.

4) Jessica Korda/Amy Yang/Georgia Hall–This pairing contains one major champion, 2018 Women’s British Open winner, Georgia Hall of Great Britain. Jessica Korda of the United States is the daughter of 1998 Australian Open men’s singles tennis champion Petr Korda of the Czech Republic. Meanwhile, Amy Yang of South Korea has been in the top 10 of 17 major tournaments since 2009, but has not yet won a major.

3) Lydia Ko/Sei Young Kim/Brittany Altomare–This pairing has two-time major champion Lydia Ko of New Zealand (2015 Evian Championship and 2016 ANA Inspiration), alongside the winner of the last major tournament, Sei-young Kim of South Korea. In October, Kim shot a four-round score of -14 and beat her nearest competitor, Inbee Park of South Korea, by five strokes, at the 2020 Women’s PGA Championship from Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Altomare came very close to winning a major, but lost to Anna Nordqvist of Sweden in a playoff at the 2017 Evian Championship.

2) Danielle Kang/Anna Nordqvist/Jin Young Ko–All three of these players have won a major title in the past. Jin Young Ko of South Korea, who is currently first in the world, won the 2019 ANA Inspiration and Evian Championship. Nordqvist won the 2009 Women’s PGA Championship, and the 2017 Evian Championship. Danielle Kang of the United States, won the 2017 Women’s PGA Championship.

1)Inbee Park/So Yeon Ryu/Ariya Jutanugarn–This pairing has three players all currently ranked in the top 25. Park of South Korea is fifth, So Yeon Ryu of South Korea is 14th, and Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand is 25th. What makes this pairing so unique is that all three players are multiple major champions and U.S. Open winners. Park, the reigning Olympic champion from the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, is a seven-time major winner, including two U.S. Women’s Open titles in 2008 in Minnesota, and 2013 in New York. Ryu won the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open in Colorado Springs, and the 2017 ANA Inspiration. Jutanugarn won the 2016 Women’s British Open, and the 2018 U.S. Women’s Open from Alabama.
