Five intriguing groups from the 2022 Masters

The Masters will begin on Thursday from Augusta, Georgia. The most intriguing group will be the one featuring Tiger Woods alongside Louis Oosthuizen and Joaquin Niemann. However, here are five more groups that should be very intriguing to viewers. Time shown is the first round time in Australia.

1) Bryson DeChambeau/Cameron Smith/Paul Casey–1:23 AM AEST 

Bryson DeChambeau, the 2020 U.S. Open champion, is joined by Australian Cameron Smith (the 2022 Sentry Tournament of Champions winner and Players Champion), and the 25th ranked player in the world in England’s Paul Casey. In all there are six Australians competing. Smith will be joined by Lucas Herbert, Min Woo Lee, Adam Scott, Marc Leishman, and Cameron Davis.

2) Dustin Johnson/Collin Morikawa/Billy Horschel–4:30 AM AEST

There are a total of four major wins in this group as Dustin Johnson won the 2016 U.S. Open, and the 2020 Masters. and Morikawa meanwhile won the 2020 PGA Championship and the 2021 British Open. Billy Horschel is not a major champion, but did win the 2021 World Matchplay Golf Championship.

3) Will Zalatoris/Jon Rahm/Patrick Cantlay–4:41 AM AEST

This group features American Will Zalatoris, a rising superstar that finished second behind Hideki Matsuyama of Japan at the 2021 Masters, Spain’s Jon Rahm, the 2021 U.S. Open champion, and American Patrick Cantlay, the 2021 FedEx Cup champion. At this time, Rahm is the current favourite at +900 according to the Sporting News.

4) Jordan Spieth/Xander Schauffele/Viktor Hovland–4:52 AM AEST

This group features three-time major champion Jordan Spieth (2015 Masters champion, 2015 U.S. Open Champion and 2017 British Open champion), the reigning Olympic gold medalist in American Xander Schauffele, and world number four Viktor Hovland of Norway.

5) Brooks Koepka/Rory McIlroy/Matthew Fitzpatrick–5:03 AM AEST

This group features four-time major champions Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland, and Brooks Koepka of the United States, and world number 24 Matthew Fitzpatrick of England. McIlroy won the 2011 U.S. Open, the 2012 and 2014 PGA Championship, and 2014 British Open. Koepka won the 2017 and 2018 U.S. Open, and 2018 and 2019 PGA Championship.
