The 2022 Masters starts on Thursday. At this time Spain’s John Rahm is the favourite at +1000. The defending U.S. Open champion is currently ranked second in the world. He is only behind fellow American Scottie Scheffler, who made golf headlines in March when he won the World Golf Matchplay Championship in Austin, Texas. Here are five golfers worth considering as darkhorses to win the green jacket on Sunday.

5) Jason Kokrak–United States–+10000–The Canadian native who represents the United States and was raised in Ohio, won twice in 2021. He was victorious at the Charles Schwab Challenge and Houston Open. Kokrak will look to improve on his 49th position from last year.

4) Kevin Kisner–United States–+10000–The 38-year-old from Aiken, South Carolina is coming into the Masters with significant momentum. He reached the finals of the 2022 World Golf Matchplay Championship, the event he won in 2019, but lost to Scheffler in the final, 4 and 3.

3) Talor Gooch–United States–+10000–The 30-year-old from Midwest City, Oklahoma, won his first PGA event in November when he beat Canadian Mackenzie Hughes by three strokes at the RSM Classic at Saint Simons Island, Georgia. That was also the last PGA event in Georgia before the Masters.

2) Kevin Na–United States–+12500–The world number 30 put together a solid World Golf Matchplay Championship where he reached the round of 16. Like Gooch, Na won once on the PGA Tour in 2021, as he claimed the Sony Open in Hawaii.

1) Lucas Herbert–Australia–+20000–The 26-year-old Australian native of Bendigo, Victoria, won the Butterfield Bermuda Championship in October by one stroke over Danny Lee of New Zealand and American Patrick Reed. At 44th in the world, Herbert has been in the top 25 in four events so far in 2022.
