Five Dallas Cowboys all-time with troubling pasts

The Dallas Cowboys made the controversial decision on Wednesday by signing defensive end Aldon Smith of Greenwood, Mississippi to a one year contract worth $4 million. Smith has not played since 2015 due to substance abuse and domestic violence incidents according to Bleacher Report. From 2011 to 2015, Smith played four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and one season with the Oakland Raiders. The former Pro Bowler is just the latest former Cowboy with a troubling past. According to centraltrack.com, here are five other Cowboys who have had issues with the law.
5) Dwayne Goodrich–The former Cowboys defensive back spent two seasons with Dallas in 2000 and 2002. In 2003, he was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for killing two motorists who were trying to save a man from a burning car.
4) Nate Newton–The veteran Cowboys offensive lineman played 12 seasons with Dallas from 1986 to 1998. In that time he played in six Pro Bowls and three Super Bowls. In 2001, Newton was arrested twice for marijuana possession in separate incidents in Louisiana and Texas. In all Newton had 388 pounds of marijuana.
3) Joseph Randle–The former Cowboys running back played three seasons in Dallas from 2013 to 2015. His most notable crime was stealing underwear and cologne from a department store. In four years from 2015 to 2018, he was charged for sexual assault, burglary and drug possession.
2) Michael Irvin–The former Cowboys star wide receiver is now in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. However during his career he stabbed a teammate with scissors, had sexual assault allegations and was arrested on a drug charge.
1) Josh Brent–The former Cowboys defensive tackle killed teammate Jerry Brown while driving at a high rate of speed and under the influence on December 8, 2012. Brent was charged with intoxication manslaughter and spent half a year in prison.
