The Broncos have taken another step towards securing the club’s exciting future by re-signing young gun playmaker Ezra Mam with a whopping five-year extension.

The deal will earn Mam around $750,000 a season through to 2029, which could quickly become extremely valuable unders for the Broncos if Mam’s rise continues on track and playing the same footy he’s displayed recently.

The Broncos now have the future truly tied up for the next few seasons, with a mega list of rising stars all signed through to the end of the 2025 NRL season.

They include Blake Mozer, Brendan Piakura, Corey Jensen, Deine Mariner, Jesse Arthars, Jordan Riki, Kobe Hetherington, Kotoni Staggs, Pat Carrigan, Payne Haas, Reece Walsh, Selwyn Cobbo, Tristan Sailor, Tyson Smoothy, and Xavier Willison.

Some are even signed far longer too, including Carrigan (on $800,000 to 2028), Haas (earning $3.6 million over the next three years), and young forwards Riki and Piakura, both signed to 2027.

Despite Mam being one in a massive pack of emerging rugby league stars at Red Hill, his re-signing was a big one. His last campaign was electric, with the 21-year-old scoring 18 tries, setting up nine more, making 56 tackle breaks, and running for 98 metres a game. Brisbane’s five-eighth is the definition of a big game player, and coach Kevin Walters certainly knows it—he’s very eager to continue working with Mam well into the 2020s.

“Ezra is a born-and-bred Bronco and it’s great he’s staying where he belongs,” Walters said after the media team announced the retention on Tuesday. “He is an exciting player but he also likes to get in there and do the tough stuff and to do what needs to be done for his team.

“We have only scratched the surface on what Ez can do. We’ll keep on working with him to improve his game and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together over the years ahead.”
