ENGLAND’S fast bowlers backed up momentum turning innings from Jos Buttler to take control of the fifth test against India on day two at the Oval.

After an early collapse from England on day 1, It was Jos Buttler who again had to pick up the pieces.

England’s lead of 158 was largely thanks to the series’ second-leading run- scorer, Buttler, who struck 89 to guide his side to 332 from an overnight total of 198-7.

At 70-1, India looked set until Sam Curran produced a peach to bowl KL Rahul.

Anderson showed his class with a relentless spell to remove both Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, and was also unlucky not to have India captain Virat Kohli lbw.

Kohli was building a solid innings before Ben Stokes delivered a beauty to have Kohli caught by Cook.

Anderson’s two wickets took him to 561 in Test cricket, three away from overtaking Australia’s Glenn McGrath as the most successful fast bowler in the history of the game.

Day 2 finished with India 6/174, trailing by 158 runs.
