NBA Free Agency is taking place this week. On Tuesday we profiled Fred VanVleet, who signed with the Houston Rockets, after seven seasons with the Toronto Raptors. Here are eight more players who are swapping teams through free agency.


Dillon Brooks–Houston Rockets

Brooks signed a four-year deal worth $80 million with the Houston Rockets according to www.canadiansportscene.com. Last season the small forward averaged 14.3 points per game, 3.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game with the Memphis Grizzlies. The native of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada had a field goal percentage of .396, three-point percentage of .326 and a free throw percentage of .779.


Malik Beasley–Milwaukee Bucks

Beasley is signing a one-year deal worth $2.7 million with the Milwaukee Bucks according to Dana Gauruder of hoopsrumors.com. Last season with the Utah Jazz and the Los Angeles Clippers, the shooting guard averaged 12.7 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, and 1.5 assists per game, with a field goal percentage of .395, three point percentage of .357, and a free throw percentage of .769. In addition to the Jazz and Lakers, Beasley has played for the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves. While with Minnesota, Beasley had a series of law violations and was subsequently suspended 12 games during the 2020-21 NBA season. 


Eric Gordon–Phoenix Suns

Gordon is signing a two-year contract worth $6.6 million with the Phoenix Suns according to spotrac. Last season with the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers, he averaged 12.4 points per game, 2.7 assists per game, and 1.9 rebounds per game. The shooting guard from Indianapolis, Indiana had a field goal percentage of .446, three-point percentage of .371, and a free throw percentage of .821. In addition to playing for the Clippers and Rockets, Gordon spent five seasons with the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans from 2011 to 2016. The seventh overall pick by the Clippers in the 2008 NBA Draft was the 2016-17 NBA Sixth Man of the Year with the Rockets.


Dennis Schroder–Toronto Raptors

Schroder is signing a two-year contract worth $26 million with the Toronto Raptors according to canadiansportscene.com. Last season with the Los Angeles Lakers he averaged 12.6 points per game, 4.5 assists per game, and 2.5 rebounds per game, and had a field goal percentage of .415, a three-point percentage of .329, and a free throw percentage of .857. A native of Braunschweig, Germany, Schroder is joining his sixth team. In addition to the Lakers, the guard has played for the Atlanta Hawks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets.


Lonnie Walker IV–Brooklyn Nets

Walker IV is signing a one-year contract worth $2.3 million with the Brooklyn Nets according to spotrac.com. Last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, the shooting guard from Reading, Pennsylvania averaged 11.7 points per game, 1.9 rebounds per game and 1.1 assists per game, and had a field goal percentage of .448, free throw percentage of .858, and a three-point percentage of .365. Walker IV played his first four NBA seasons with the San Antonio Spurs.


Max Strus–Cleveland Cavaliers

Strus is signing a four-year deal worth $63 million with the Cleveland Cavaliers according to spotrac. The small forward from Hickory Hills, Illinois averaged 11.5 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game with the Miami Heat last season. Strus also had a field goal percentage of .410, a three-point percentage of .310, and a free throw percentage of .876. Like VanVleet, Strus was undrafted and played his rookie season with the Chicago Bulls in 2019-20.


Bruce Brown–Indiana Pacers

Brown signed a two-year deal worth $45 million with the Indiana Pacers according to spotrac. He won the NBA Finals with the Denver Nuggets in 2022-23, and averaged 11.5 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game, 3.4 assists per game, and 1.1 steals per game. Brown had a field goal percentage of .483, three-point percentage of .358, and a free throw percentage of .758. A multi-positional player who can play small forward, point guard and shooting guard, the native of Boston, Massachusetts played two seasons each with the Detroit Pistons and Brooklyn Nets before joining the Nuggets last season.


Josh Richardson–Miami Heat

Richardson signed a two-year contract worth $5.9 million with the Miami Heat according to spotrac. In 2022-23, the shooting guard from Edmond, Oklahoma shared his time with the San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Pelicans. Richardson averaged 10.1 points per game, 2.7 rebounds per game, 2.7 assists per game, 1.1 steals per game, and had a field goal percentage of .431, three-point percentage of .365, and a field goal percentage of .852. In addition to the Spurs and Pelicans, Richardson has previously played with the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics.
