Eagles sign wide receiver Julio Jones

According to Tyler Dragon of USA Today on Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles have signed Julio Jones of Foley, Alabama to a one-year contract. He is set to earn $247, 200.
The Eagles become the fourth National Football League franchise Jones has played for. He previously played a decade with the Atlanta Falcons from 2011 to 2020, following one season each with the Tennessee Titans (2021) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2022).
With the Buccaneers last season, Jones had 24 catches for 299 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jones had a season-high 69 receiving yards in the Buccaneers’s season opener of 2022, a 19-3 Tampa Bay win over the Dallas Cowboys. He then had 53 receiving yards and a 31-yard touchdown catch from Tom Brady in a 21-16 Buccaneers win over the Seattle Seahawks on November 13.
It was Atlanta where Jones sizzled in his NFL career, as he caught passes on a regular basis from Matt Ryan. Jones was a seven-time Pro Bowler with the Falcons (2012, and then six straight seasons from 2014 to 2019). In that time, Jones led the NFL in receptions (136), and receiving yards (1871) with the Falcons in 2015, and then led the NFL in receiving yards again with 1677 in 2018.
The timing of this acquisition for the Eagles is an interesting one. It comes after their first loss of the season–in a 20-14 loss to the New York Jets. In the six-point Jets win, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts seemed out of sync with his receivers, except for A.J. Brown, who had an impressive seven catches for 131 yards. Hurts threw three interceptions and has thrown seven interceptions during the season.
