Eagles guard Brandon Brooks out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon

According to Derrick Gunn of NBC Sports on Monday, Philadelphia Eagles guard Brandon Brooks of Milwaukee, Wisconsin will miss the entire 2020 National Football League season with a torn left Achilles tendon. Brooks suffered the injury while training at the NovaCare Complex in Philadelphia.

Brooks is 30 years of age, and has played with the Eagles since 2016. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl the last three seasons, and was also on the Eagles squad that won the 2018 Super Bowl. The Eagles defeated the New England Patriots 41-33 at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

This is the second time in Brooks’s career that he has suffered an Achilles injury. On January 13, 2019, Brooks tore his right Achilles tendon in the National Football Conference divisional playoff. The Eagles lost 20-14 to the New Orleans Saints, and as a result, were unable to defend their Super Bowl championship. Brooks was able to come back for the 2019 NFL regular season, and play a full 16 games. However, in the final regular season game for the Eagles in 2019, Brooks dislocated his shoulder. As a result, he missed the Eagles’ playoff game. Philadelphia would end up losing 17-9 to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Wildcard on January 5, 2020.

Brooks was originally a third round pick, 76th overall, by the Houston Texans in the 2012 NFL Draft out of the University of Miami in Ohio. He played four seasons with the Texans from 2012 to 2015. In 2013, Brooks had two fumble recoveries for the Texans. After signing a five-year deal with the Eagles on March 9, 2016, Brooks registered his first career solo tackle against the New York Giants on November 6, 2016.
