Kevin Durant is Team USA’s all-time Olympics scoring leader having overtaken WNBA legend Lisa Leslie in the team’s 122-87 quarterfinal win over Brazil.
The 35-year-old’s 11-point outing saw him reach an all-time tally of 494 surpassing four-time gold medalist Leslie’s 488.
“Records are meant to be broken,” Durant told reporters post-game.
“Somebody will come along and do the same. I’m focused on trying to win this gold.”
Durant will be eyeing a fourth gold medal in Paris having already tasted success in London, Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo.
A 14-time NBA All-Star, two-time NBA champion, and 2014 NBA MVP, Durant continues crafting one of the sport’s great legacies as he enters the twilight of his career.
Team USA will meet a Nikola Jokić-led Serbian outfit that they downed in the group stage in a crucial semifinal tomorrow morning with the victor to meet one of France or Germany for a shot at a gold medal.
