Draymond Green calls the NBA boring

Golden State Warriors power forward and possible future Hall of Famer Draymond Green of Saginaw, Michigan made National Basketball Association headlines over the weekend for his comments about the current state of basketball. According to Ryan Gaydos of FOX, Green recently called the game “boring” and gave the All-Star Game format a rating of zero, when asked if he would rank the game from one to 10.

The deep concern Green has is the fact the game of basketball is simply not physical enough. In this era of basketball, the focus lately has been all about three pointers. At the All-Star break, there were a total of 21,874 made. The Boston Celtics have made the most this season with 976. Green plays on a Warriors team that has made the fourth most three point shots in the NBA (839), and ironically has the NBA’s all-time three point leader in point guard Stephen Curry of Akron, Ohio (3948) leading their offense. Meanwhile, the NBA player with the most three-point shots this season is former first overall pick Anthony Edwards of Atlanta, Georgia. The Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard has made 227 shots from downtown in 2024-25.

It should be noted that Green has always been noted throughout his entire career for his defense.  In 2016-17, he led the NBA with two steals per game and was the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year. In Green’s NBA career, he has averaged 6.9 rebounds per game, 1.3 steals per game and one block per game. The Warriors are at 28 wins and 27 losses, and lead the Phoenix Suns by a game and a half for the final spot in the play-in tournament.
