Dolphins name Skylar Thompson starting QB against the Bills

The Miami Dolphins have named rookie Skylar Thompson of Palmyra, Missouri their starting quarterback for their playoff game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday according to Joseph Salvador of Sports Illustrated. The reason for the Thompson start is because Tua Tagovailoa is out with a concussion and Teddy Bridgewater has a dislocated pinky finger.
Thompson played in seven games for the Dolphins this season, a significantly high number of games for a third string rookie quarterback. He completed 60 of 105 passes, with one touchdown pass, and three interceptions. On the ground, Thompson had 14 rushes for 21 yards.
Thompson’s touchdown pass came in the Dolphins’s 23-21 loss to the New England Patriots in week 17. It was a four-yard pass to tight end Mike Gesicki of Lakewood, New Jersey. Thompson was the Dolphins’s seventh round pick, 247th overall, in the 2022 National Football League Draft out of Kansas State.

The Dolphins enter this weekend’s wildcard matchup as a huge underdog. Buffalo is in fact a 13-point favourite. The San Francisco 49ers are 9.5 point favourites to beat the Seattle Seahawks. The Los Angeles Chargers are two point favourites to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Minnesota Vikings are three point favourites to beat the New York Giants. The Cincinnati Bengals are seven point favourites to beat the Baltimore Ravens, and the Dallas Cowboys are 2.5 point favourites to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I like all the favourites this week. However I believe the Seahawks have an excellent chance of covering the spread, as I think that contest will be relatively low scoring.
