The Miami Dolphins have made two very intriguing offseason trades this week. On Monday, they made a blockbuster deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Then on Tuesday, they made another intriguing deal with the New York Giants.

In Monday’s transaction according to the Associated Press, the Dolphins traded cornerback Jalen Ramsey of Smyrna, Tennessee, tight end Jonnu Smith of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a seventh round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft to the Steelers for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick of Old Bridge, New Jersey and a fifth round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. Then on Tuesday, according to Brenden Deeg of The Score, the announcement was made that tight end Darren Waller of Landover, Maryland was coming out of retirement. He was then traded from the Giants to the Dolphins with a conditional seventh round pick in 2027, for a sixth round pick in 2026.

Ramsey is joining his fourth NFL franchise. He previously played four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2016 to 2019, four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams from 2019 to 2022, and the last two seasons with the Miami Dolphins. Ramsey was a seven-time Pro Bowler from 2017 to 2023, and won a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2022. In 2024, Ramsey had 60 combined tackles (39 solo tackles and 21 assisted tackles), six tackles for a loss, four quarterback hits, two interceptions for seven yards, 11 pass deflections and one sack. Ramsey’s sack came in a 34-15 Dolphins win over the New England Patriots on November 24.

Smith is joining his fifth NFL franchise. He was with the Tennessee Titans from 2017 to 2020, the New England Patriots from 2021 to 2022, the Atlanta Falcons in 2023, and the Dolphins in 2024. This past season, Smith was selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time. In 17 games, he had 88 catches for 884 receiving yards and eight touchdowns for the Dolphins.

Fitzpatrick is returning to the Dolphins after playing there in 2018 and 2019. He was with the Steelers since 2019. The five-time Pro Bowler had 96 combined tackles with the Steelers in 2024 (62 solo tackles and 34 assisted tackles). He had one tackle for a loss, one interception for 25 yards, four pass deflections and one forced fumble.

Waller is joining his fourth NFL team. He was with the Baltimore Ravens in 2015 and 2016, the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders from 2018 to 2022 (selected to the Pro Bowl in 2020), and with the Giants in 2023. In 2020, Waller was selected to the Pro Bowl.
