Dodgers set National League record for most home runs in a single month
5 years ago - Sportingbase
The Los Angeles Dodgers now have the National League record for most home runs by a team in a single month. On Sunday in the Dodgers’ 7-2 win over the Texas Rangers, the Dodgers recorded their 57th home run in the month of August. That breaks the Atlanta Braves’ record of 56 home runs which were set in June of 2019. The Major League Baseball record belongs to the New York Yankees, who had 74 home runs in August of 2019.
Cody Bellinger set the record with a two-run home run in the third inning. It was one of three home runs the Dodgers had in the game as Corey Seager and Will Smith also hit home runs in the five-run Dodgers win.
Throughout the month Bellinger and Mookie Betts led the Dodgers in home runs with 10 each. Seager and Max Muncy had six home runs each. Outfielders A.J. Pollock and Joc Pederson had five home runs each. Smith had three home runs. He was followed by Chris Taylor, Justin Turner, Enrique Hernandez, Matt Beaty and Edwin Rios at two home runs each. The Dodgers with one home run were catchers Austin Barnes and Keibert Ruiz.

It has been a remarkable start to the abbreviated season for the Dodgers. With a record of 27 wins and 10 losses, they have the highest winning percentage in Major League Baseball at .730. However surprisingly despite their high number of home runs, they have not scored the most runs in Major League Baseball to start the season. The San Diego Padres lead in that category with 211. The Dodgers are second with 210.
