Former Manly Sea Eagles Coach Des Hasler has returned back to the club that sacked him back in 2014.

Hasler replaces Trent Barrett who he and the club had a 2018 season to forget. They finished way out of the eight in second last, had salary cap issues, player behaviour disruptions and coach disruptions about how the club was run.

Hasler signed a three-year deal today with Manly after his year off from being sacked as Canterbury Bulldogs coach in 2017. Manly have had a lot of success with Hasler as coach. He steered them to two NRL premierships being in 2008 and 2011 with an amazing 60 percent win rate.
Sea Eagles Chairman Scott Penn touched on the predominant reason why Hasler was brought back:

“Des was instrumental in delivering the Club enormous success after the Northern Eagles era. I could not be more confident that he can take the Club back to a new era of success,’’ Penn said.

“Des is a Manly man, demands success and will deliver the Club results that our members and fans have come to expect. It is an exciting time for the future of the Club.”

Hasler will commence his duties on November 5 and it is expected to make serious groundbreaking changes that will put the playing group on notice.
