According to Basketball Reference on Wednesday, Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray of Seattle, Washington recorded his first career buzzer beater on Wednesday. He accomplished the feat in a 106-104 Atlanta win over the Orlando Magic at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

Murray made an 18-foot two-point field goal as time expired to break a 104-104 deadlock. The play was reviewed and it was determined that the Hawks guard got the shot off in time.

It was a strong game for Murray, as he led the Hawks offensively with 26 points. He also had five rebounds, five assists and two steals. Magic power forward Paolo Banchero, the first overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, led Orlando with 26 points too.

Murray was one of six Hawks to reach double digits in points. Point guard Trae Young of Lubbock, Texas had 18 points, center Onyeka Okongwu of Los Angeles, California had 15 points off the bench, shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic of Belgrade, Serbia and center Clint Capela of Geneva, Switzerland had 12 points each, and forward Jalen Johnson of Wausau, Wisconsin had 10 points.

This is the fifth time a NBA player has made a game-winning buzzer beater shot this season. The other four are Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat, Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, and Damian Lillard of the Milwaukee Bucks.

In 2023-24, Murray is averaging 21 points per game, 4.8 assists per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, and 1.4 steals per game. He also has a field goal percentage of .471, three-point percentage of .383, and a free throw percentage of .825.

The Hawks improve to a record of 17 wins and 23 losses. They currently have the final spot in the  NBA play-in tournament.
