D.J. Moore has epic night for the Bears in Thursday night win

It was an emotional Thursday for the Chicago Bears as it was announced earlier on Thursday that Pro Bowl Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus of Chicago, Illinois had died at the age of 80. Things have not been going well for Chicago the last two seasons. Heading into their game against the Washington Commanders, they lost 14 straight games, and had not won since October 24 of last year when they beat the New England Patriots 33-14 at Gillette Stadium.
The Bears had a memorable offensive night on Thursday, and as a result, ended their longest losing streak in franchise history. The spark plug of Chicago’s offense was simply D.J. Moore of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Moore had eight catches for 230 receiving yards and three touchdowns. His 230 receiving yards were the most of any player in one game, not only this season, but all of last season too.
There is no doubt more was expected from Moore in the early going. There was significant amount of pressure on him as Chicago acquired the wideout from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. In week one, Moore only had two catches for 25 receiving yards in a 38-20 Bears loss to the Green Bay Packers.
After five games, Moore now has 27 receptions for 531 receiving yards and five touchdown catches, which leads the NFL. It was also a monster Thursday for Bears quarterback Justin Fields of Kennesaw, Georgia. Fields had four touchdown passes for the second straight week, 282 passing yards, 57 rushing yards, and an impressive quarterback rating of 125.3.
