According to Todd Archer of ESPN on Monday, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee retired at the age of 34. Lee spent 10 seasons with the Cowboys from 2010 to 2013, and again from 2015 to 2020. He missed the entire 2014 National Football League regular season because he tore his anterior cruciate ligament during a Cowboys offseason workout that was an organized team activity.

In 118 regular season games, Lee had 802 combined tackles (521 solo tackles and 281 assisted tackles), 60 tackles for a loss, 15 quarterback hits, 14 interceptions for 339 yards and two touchdowns, 30 pass deflections, two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries for 10 yards and four sacks. Lee’s touchdowns from interceptions came in a 38-35 Cowboys win over the Indianapolis Colts on December 5, 2010, and in a 30-21 Cowboys loss to the San Diego Chargers on September 29, 2013. Also in 2013, Lee led the NFL with 174 yards from interceptions.

Twice Lee was selected to the Pro Bowl. The first time was in 2015, and the second time was in 2016. In 2015, Lee had a career-high 2.5 sacks, along with 128 combined tackles (76 solo tackles and 52 assisted tackles), 11 tackles for a loss, three quarterback hits, five pass deflections, and one interception. In 2016, Lee had career highs in combined tackles (145), and solo tackles (93). He also had 52 assisted tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, two quarterback hits, one pass deflection, and one fumble recovery. Also in 2016, Lee was selected as a first-team All-Pro.

In Lee’s final NFL season of 2020, he had 20 combined tackles (11 solo tackles and nine assisted tackles), along with one quarterback hit. In the postseason, Lee had 15 combined tackles (10 solo tackles and five assisted tackles), and two tackles for a loss in three playoff games.

A native of Pittsburgh, Lee played his college football at Penn State. He was then selected in the second round, 55th overall, in the 2010 NFL Draft. Lee’s first two NFL interceptions came off of one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time in Peyton Manning.
