Coolmore Stakes Review: What The Jockeys Said
6 years ago - Sportingbase
Exceedance showed a superior turn of foot under the guidance of Dwayne Dunn to take out the Coolmore Stakes.
Here’s what the jockeys said.
Dwayne Dunn (Exceedance – 1st)
We had a game plan before the race. We knew we were only going to win it late. There was a little bit of a bang together at the start with Craig Williams and another one on my outside.
I saw the back of Libertini and Bivouac and I thought they were the right horses to take me where I needed to go. I got on the back of them.
Hugh Bowman (Bivouac – 2nd)
Superb effort. He’s such a good horse. He and Exceedance have had a few battles over the spring and I can see them having a few more in the autumn.
Damien Oliver (Libertini – 3rd)
Great run. The two colts were just a bit strong on the day but I was really happy with her effort.
Jamie Kah (Li’l Kontra – 4th)
Massive. I think she’s going to be a 1400m horse, ideally. But she ran really well.
Luke Nolen (Brooklyn Hustle – 5th)
She was sound. She just prefers being on top of the ground.
Tim Clark (Cosmic Force – 6th)
Traveled really well. Just thought he might’ve given a bit more.
James Winks (Alabama Express – 7th)
He ran well. Probably just looking for seven furlongs.

Jye McNeil (Broadwayandfourth – 8th)
He ran well. Probably just looking for seven furlongs.
Linda Meech (Sartorial Splendor – 9th)
don’t think he backed up from last week.
Michael Walker (Accession – 10th)
Just outclassed.
John Allen (Cardiff – 11th)
Looked a little disappointing. Probably didn’t handle the conditions
Jame Mott (Exeter – 12th)
He’ll be gelded and will probably come back a nice horse.
Craig Williams (Ruuca – 13th)
Backed up a week later and taking on a group of quality three-year-olds, he was just off the back of the fourth horse in the run, we failed to be able to quicken when they sprinted.
