Colts defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad suspended six games

According to the Associated Press on Wednesday, Indianapolis Colts defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad of Irvington, New Jersey has been suspended six games for violating the National Football League’s performance enhancing drug policy. This is the second time a Colts defensive player has been suspended for failing a drug test in recent weeks. Defensive tackle Grover Stewart of Camilla, Georgia was suspended for six games on October 17, and is scheduled to return on Sunday when the Colts play the Cincinnati Bengals.

The suspension does not have a lot of significance because Muhammad has not played a game for the Colts this season. He has been on the practice squad.

The defensive end has six years of National Football League experience with the New Orleans Saints (2017), Indianapolis Colts (2018 to 2021), and Chicago Bears (2022). Muhammad played 16 games last season for the Bears and had 29 combined tackles (15 solo tackles and 14 assisted tackles), one tackle for a loss, three quarterback hits, one forced fumble and one sack. The forced fumble came in a 23-20 Bears win over the Houston Texans on September 25, 2022.

Stewart has played in six games for the Colts this season. He has 20 combined tackles (13 solo tackles and seven assisted tackles), two tackles for a loss and five quarterback hits.

The suspension of Muhammad comes a week after the Colts released linebacker Shaquille Leonard of Nichols, South Carolina. Since his release, Leonard has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Indianapolis is currently in second place in the AFC South. They have a record of seven wins and five losses.
