Clippers star shooting guard Bradley Beal out for the season with a broken hip

The Los Angeles Clippers will be without shooting guard Bradley Beal of St. Louis, Missouri for the rest of the 2025-26 National Basketball Association season. The reason why Beal is gone is because he broke his hip on Saturday in a 114-103 Clippers loss to the Phoenix Suns.

This was Beal’s first season with the Clippers. He signed a two-year contract worth $11 million on July 18.

Beal was not productive with the Clippers this season. He was only averaging 8.2 points per game, which was a career low. It is the first time in Beal’s career he was not averaging double digits per game when it came to points. Beal also averaged only 1.7 assists per game and 0.8 rebounds per game, and had not registered a single block in six games. He also had a field goal percentage of .375, three point percentage of .368 and free throw percentage of .750. Beal’s statistics were a major drop off from his time in Washington, where he was a three-time NBA All-Star in 2018, 2019 and 2021.

The Clippers will also be without star small forward Kawhi Leonard of Los Angeles, California for the foreseeable future. Leonard, who made his third career buzzer beater on Halloween in a 126-124 Clippers win over the New Orleans Pelicans, is out with ankle and foot sprains.

With Leonard and Beal out, Kris Dunn of New London, Connecticut and Nicolas Batum of Lisieux, France to get more playing time. The Clippers are ice cold at the moment. They have lost six straight games, and have opened the season at three wins and eight losses.
