Clippers have remarkable comeback win over the Spurs

One of the biggest stories of the 2024-25 National Basketball Association regular season so far has been the high number of comebacks. On Monday, for the sixth time this season, a team came back from a 20-point deficit to win.

Heading into Monday’s play, the team that delivered the largest comeback this season was the Los Angeles Lakers, On October 25, the Lakers trailed the Phoenix Suns by 22 points, (48-26), before going on a 97-68 run to win the game 123-116.

In Monday’s action, another Los Angeles team delivered a huge upset. This time, it was the Los Angeles Clippers. Down 40-14 after the first quarter, the Clippers outscored the Spurs 99-64 the rest of the game en route to a 113-104 victory. This was the Clippers’s first win at the newly built Intuit Dome, and in the process snapped a three game losing streak.

The Clippers were led by shooting guard Norman Powell of San Diego, California, who had 23 points. Five more Clippers players reached double figures in points. Shooting guard Amir Coffey of Hopkins, Minnesota had 21 points, center Ivica Zubac of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina and shooting guard James Harden of Los Angeles, California had 17 points each, point guard Kris Dunn of New London, Connecticut had 11 points, and forward Derrick Jones Jr. of Chester, Pennsylvania had 10 points.

Zubac had the double double, as he added 13 rebounds. The Clippers did very well shooting from downtown. They took 37 three-point attempts, of which they successfully converted 19 as a team. Coffey and Powell made five three-point shots each. The Spurs meanwhile, only made 11 of 41 three point shots.
