Clippers deliver most dominant win in franchise history

The Los Angeles Clippers had their most dominant victory in franchise history on Wednesday. They defeated the Brooklyn Nets by 59 points in a 126-67 win.

The previous franchise record was 50 points. That took place on April 10, 2022 in a 138-88 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

What we saw from the Clippers on Wednesday was an exceptional defensive performance. Limiting a team to under 70 points in today’s NBA is virtually unheard of. After a 21-21 tie after the first quarter, Brooklyn only scored 14 points in the second quarter, 16 points in the third quarter, and 16 points in the fourth quarter. The Clippers had 40 defensive rebounds and 13 steals as a team. The Nets meanwhile had 22 turnovers.

Offensively, the Clippers were led by Kawhi Leonard of Los Angeles, California, who was only playing in his fourth game this season after recovering from another knee injury. He led the Clippers with 23 points. Meanwhile, five other Clippers reached double digits in points. Point guard James Harden of Los Angeles, California had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double, shooting guard Norman Powell of San Diego, California had 18 points, shooting guard Amir Coffey of Hopkins, Minnesota had 13 points off the bench, while center Ivica Zubac of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina and small forward Derrick Jones Jr. of Chester, Pennsylvania had 11 points each.

However, the one statistic that was most incredible on Wednesday was from Zubac, as he was a +48. That was a Clippers franchise record for a single game. With the win, the Clippers improve to 22 wins and 17 losses. That is the fifth best record in the Western Conference.
