Clippers come back from 22 point deficit to beat the Warriors

Things have not been completely hunky-dory for the Los Angeles Clippers this season. They find themselves below the .500 mark at nine wins and 10 losses. However on Saturday afternoon in southern California, they put together an impressive comeback in a 113-112 win over the Golden State Warriors.

The Clippers were once down to the Warriors 70-48 with fifteen seconds into the second half, when the Clippers put together an impressive second half comeback. They outscored the Warriors 65-42 over the last 23 minutes and 45 seconds.

This was the second impressive second-half comeback in the NBA over the last week. On November 26, the Milwaukee Bucks were trailing the Portland Trail Blazers by 26 points in the third quarter before winning 108-102. This was also the second large blown lead by the Warriors in the last week. On November 28, the Warriors blew a 72-48 lead over the Sacramento Kings, only to lose 124-123.

The Clippers meanwhile have a history of great comebacks. On January 25, 2022, Los Angeles was once down 35 points to the Washington Wizards (66-31), before winning 116-115. This was the second biggest regular season comeback in regular season history. The Clippers also came back to beat the Warriors in the second biggest comeback in NBA playoff history. On April 15, 2019, the Clippers were once down 94-63 to the Warriors in game two of the Western Conference first round series before winning 135-131.

On Saturday, six Clippers reached double digits in scoring. Forward Paul George of Palmdale, California had 25 points. Guard James Harden of Los Angeles, California had 21 points. Forward Kawhi Leonard of Los Angeles had 20 points, while three Clippers had 12 points. They were center Ivica Zubac of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, small forward Norman Powell of San Diego, California, and power forward Daniel Theis of Salzgitter, Germany. It was George who came through with the most memorable shot as he had a game-winning three-point jump shot from 27 feet with nine seconds left to give the Clippers the win.
