Christian Wood fully recovers from Coronavirus

According to Sam Quinn of CBS Sports on Thursday, Detroit Pistons power forward Christian Wood of Long Beach, California has recovered from Coronavirus. Wood was the first of three players over the last 24 covers to recover from the pandemic. On Friday, it was reported by nba.com that Utah Jazz teammates Rudy Gobert of Saint-Quentin, France and Donovan Mitchell of Elmsford, New York had recovered as well.

Wood was the third National Basketball Association player to test positive for Coronavirus. He was diagnosed with the horrendous disease on March 14. The 24 year-old power forward is one of 13 players from the NBA to be diagnosed with Coronavirus. Other players who have been diagnosed with the disease are Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart of Lancaster, Texas and Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant of Washington, D.C. There are also three players each from the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets along with two players from the Los Angeles Lakers.

Wood was in his first season with the Pistons and fourth NBA season. He had previously played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks and New Orleans Pelicans. Used mostly as a reserve player prior to this season, Wood was finding regular playing time off the bench for Detroit. He had played a career high 62 games for the Pistons in 2019-20, and started 12 games. Wood was averaging 13.1 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game, along with a field goal percentage of .567, free throw percentage of .744 and three point percentage of .386.

Detroit is in a rebuilding mode. They currently have a record of 20 wins and 46 losses heading into the NBA hiatus.
