Chris Gotterup of Easton, Maryland is a winner on the PGA Tour for a second time in his career. On Sunday, Gotterup won the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open. He posted a four round score of -15 and beat world number two Rory McIlroy and Marco Penge of Horsham, England by two strokes.

McIlroy was considered a favourite to win this past weekend, but the 2025 Masters champion and five-time major champion settled for second place. McIlroy also won the 2011 United States Open, the 2012 and 2014 PGA Championship, and the 2014 British Open.

Gotterup had a first round score of two-under-par 68, a second round score of nine-under-par 61, a third round score of even par, and a fourth round score of four-under-par 66. Gotterup, who won the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic, birdied half the holes in the second round in North Berwick on Friday. There were two other golfers in contention. Matt Fitzpatrick of Sheffield, England, who won the 2022 United States Open, finished tied for fourth place with Denmark’s Nicolai Hojgaard at -12.

There was also an additional event on the PGA Tour this past weekend. William Mouw of Upland, California won the ISCO Championship in Louisville, Kentucky. Mouw posted a winning score of -10, and beat fellow American Paul Peterson of Tucson, Arizona. Peterson finished in second place at -9. Meanwhile, Manuel Elvira of Santander, Spain, finished in third place at -7. Due to the fact the ISCO Championship is an additional event, Mouw does not receive an invitation to the 2026 Masters, however, he is invited to the 2026 PGA Championship. This weekend, the Barracuda Championship in Truckee, California, will take place as an alternative event to the British Open. This event is unique on the PGA Tour because it uses the Modified Stableford scoring system.
