Celtics sign power forward Chris Boucher
7 months ago - Sportingbase
According to Rogers Sportsnet on Tuesday, the Boston Celtics have signed a power forward I have become very familiar with over the years in Chris Boucher of Castries, Saint Lucia. The terms of the deal are for one year and $3.3 million.
The Celtics have become Boucher’s third National Basketball Association franchise. He was previously with the Golden State Warriors for one game during the 2017-18 season, and then the last seven seasons with the Toronto Raptors.
While with the Raptors in 2019, Boucher won the NBA Finals. He was part of the Raptors franchise that beat the Warriors in six games for the championship. It should be noted that even though Boucher was born in St. Lucia, he was raised in Quebec. Boucher became the only Canadian to win the NBA Finals with Canada’s only NBA franchise.

It is interesting that Boucher leaves the Raptors around the same time that Masai Ujuri parted ways with the Raptors. Ujuri praised Boucher regularly during interviews, even around the time that Boucher was not used that often off the bench.
In 2024-25, Boucher averaged 10 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game. He had a field goal percentage of .492, three point percentage of .363 and free throw percentage of .782.
It will now be interesting to see how the Celtics will use their latest off-season acquisition. At this time it appears Boucher will backup Neemias Queta of Barreiro, Portugal at center. It will also be interesting to see Boucher’s total minutes with Jayson Tatum out with a ruptured Achilles tendon.
