Celtics pound Heat to tie Eastern Conference Final at 2

Once in a while, I make a bold claim and get it right. After game three of the Eastern Conference Final, I had the feeling that the Boston Celtics might have the momentum heading into game four after they outscored the Miami Heat 85-70 over the last three quarters in their 109-103 game three loss. Gosh golly gee, I was correct.

In game four at the Toronto Dominion Garden in Boston, it was the Celtics that came out to a masterful beginning. They outscored the Heat 29-11 in the opening 12 minutes en route to a dominant 102-82 game four win to tie to the best out of seven series at two games apiece.

The Heat first quarter offense was simply poor. If you looked up the term inept in the dictionary, one definition would be the first quarter offense for the Miami Heat on May 23, 2022. Miami only made three of 20 field goal attempts, while Jimmy Butler, was a -18.

The Celtics were led offensively by Jayson Tatum, who scored 31 points. Four other Celtics players reached double digits in scoring. Payton Pritchard had 14 points, Derrick White had 13 points, while Jaylen Brown and Robert Williams had 12 points each. Al Horford meanwhile. might have struggled offensively, as he only scored five points, but was very effective defensively, as he had 11 defensive rebounds and 13 rebounds overall.

While the Eastern Conference Final is very tight at the moment, the Western Conference Final is anything but. The Golden State Warriors have a three games to none series lead on the Dallas Mavericks following a 109-100 win in game four of the series on Sunday.
