Cavaliers deliver fourth largest playoff blowout in NBA playoff history

The Cleveland Cavaliers are the second team in the 2025 National Basketball Association playoffs that have advanced to the second round, following the Oklahoma City Thunder. On Monday, the Cavaliers reached the final eight in dominant fashion as they clobbered the Miami Heat 138-83 to sweep the four game series.
The 55 point victory is the fourth largest blowout in NBA Playoff history, and the second largest blowout in Cavaliers history. The largest NBA playoff blowouts of all-time had a 58 point differential. On March 19, 1956, the Minneapolis Lakers defeated the St. Louis Hawks 133-75 in game two of the Western Division Semifinals, and on April 27, 2009, the Denver Nuggets defeated the New Orleans Hornets 121-63 in game four of the first round. The third biggest NBA playoff blowout was 56 points as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Golden State Warriors 126-70 on April 21, 1973 in game three of the Western Conference Finals.
The largest Cleveland win was 68 points. Ironically, it also came against the Heat in a 148-80 win on December 17, 1991.
This was also the second NBA postseason game in the 2025 playoffs with a 50+ point differential. On April 20, the Thunder defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 131-80.
In Cleveland’s Monday win, six Cavaliers reached double digits in points. Shooting guard Donovan Mitchell of Elmsford, New York had 22 points, small forward De’Andre Hunter of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania had 19 points, shooting guard Ty Jerome of New York, New York had 18 points, Defensive Player of the Year Evan Mobley of San Diego, California had 17 points, center Jarrett Allen of San Diego had 14 points, and shooting guard Javonte Green of Petersburg, Virginia had 11 points. It was a masterful game for Allen, as he had the double double (12 rebounds), and was an incredible +42.
