Carlos Alcaraz wins 2025 Japan Open

Carlos Alcaraz of El Palmar, Spain became number one in the world when he won the 2025 United States Open. On Tuesday, Alcaraz continued his winning ways with a convincing 6-3, 6-2 win over American Taylor Fritz, the second seed, in the final of the 2025 Japan Open.

This was a rare Tuesday final on the ATP Tour, but we once again saw why Alcaraz is the most dominant men’s player in the world at the moment. He had nine break point opportunities when Fritz was serving and broke the Californian three times. Fritz only broke Alcaraz once.

Opponents simply cannot be comfortable when serving against Alcaraz right ni=ow. That is because he can come up with a break at any time.

Alcaraz has not been perfect in his career against Fritz. In fact at the recent Laver Cup, Fritz actually beat Alcaraz 6-3, 6-2. In Tuesday’s final, Fritz was dealing with a thigh problem at the beginning of the second set, and Alcaraz applied significant pressure. It should be noted that Alcaraz was also dealing with an ankle injury during the tournament too.

Fritz was one of two seeded players Alcaraz beat in Japan. Alcaraz also beat Casper Ruud of Norway, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the semifinals.

This was Alcaraz’s eighth title in 2025, and 31st title of his career. It was also Alcaraz’s second title on the Asian continent. Alcaraz previously beat Italy’s Jannik Sinner in the final of the 2024 China Open, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6. 

On Wednesday, the final of the China Open will take place. Sinner will face another American in Learner Tien.
