According to Wendi Oliveros of The Sports Daily on Tuesday, Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz have both withdrawn from the 2023 Monte Carlo Masters. Nadal is out with a hip injury he suffered at the Australian Open he experienced in a straight set loss to Mackenzie McDonald of the United States. Alcaraz, meanwhile is experiencing physical discomfort after reaching the semifinals of the Miami Open. There, the world number one lost to Jannik Sinner of Italy, 6-7, 6-4, 6-2.

Nadal has dominated the Monte Carlo Masters over the years. He was won the tournament a record 11 times, and strengthened the argument that he is the King of Clay.
