Cardinals RB Marlon Mack out for season with Achilles injury
3 years ago - Sportingbase
According to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN on Wednesday, Arizona Cardinals running back Marlon Mack of Sarasota, Florida is out for the season with an Achilles injury. Mack suffered the injury during practice on Tuesday.
This is the second time in Mack’s career he suffered a serious Achilles injury. In 2020, he suffered an Achilles injury in the Colts’s first game of the season. However it should be noted that injury three years ago was a torn right Achilles. The injury on Tuesday was a torn left Achilles.
Mack had not been with the Cardinals for very long. In fact, he just signed a one-year contract with Arizona on August 4 worth $1.08 million. The Cardinals were Mack’s fourth National Football League team following four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts (2018 to 2021), and the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers (2022).
In 2022, Mack played six games for the Broncos and two games for the 49ers. He had 16 rushes for 84 yards and one touchdown. Mack also had eight catches for 99 receiving yards and another major score. Mack’s rushing touchdown ironically came in a 24-15 Broncos win over the Arizona Cardinals. It was a three-yard run with five minutes and 58 seconds left in the third quarter. At the time, the Broncos took a 10-9 lead, and a lead they would not relinquish.
Mack’s best National Football League season came in 2019 with the Colts. That year he had 1091 rushing yards. There was a lot of hype in Indianapolis about Mack’s potential in 2020. Then he tore his Achilles for the first time.
