According to nba.com on Monday, there was a blockbuster three-way trade on Monday involving the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls and San Antonio Spurs. The Bulls have traded small forward DeMar DeRozan of Compton, California to the Kings. The Kings traded power forward Harrison Barnes of Ames, Iowa to the Spurs. The Kings also trade small forward Chris Duarte of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic to the Bulls. In the deal, Chicago will receive two second round National Basketball Association draft picks.

DeRozan is joining his fourth NBA franchise. He previously spent nine seasons with the Raptors from 2009 to 2018, three seasons with the Spurs from 2018 to 2021, and three seasons with the Bulls from 2021 to 2024. In 2023-24, DeRozan averaged 24 points per game, 5.3 assists per game, 4.3 rebounds per game, and 1.1 steals per game. He also had a field goal percentage of .480, three-point percentage of .333, and free throw percentage of .853.

This past season, DeRozan was known for his endurance and clutch shot making. He led the NBA with 37.8 minutes played per game and 2989 total minutes, and was the runner-up to Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry of Akron, Ohio for the NBA Clutch Player of the Year.

DeRozan is a six-time All-Star. He was honoured with the Raptors in 2013-14, 2015-16, 2016-17, and 2017-18. DeRozan was also honoured with the Bulls in 2021-22, and 2022-23.

Barnes is joining his fourth NBA franchise. He previously played four seasons with the Golden State Warriors from 2012 to 2016, three seasons with the Dallas Mavericks from 2016 to 2019, and six seasons with the Kings from 2019 to 2024. In 82 games with the Kings, Barnes averaged 12.2 points per game, three rebounds per game, and 1.2 assists per game. He had a field goal percentage of .474, three point percentage of .387, and a free throw percentage of .801. Barnes won the NBA Finals with the Warriors in 2015. The Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in six games.

Duarte is joining his third team. He was previously with the Indiana Pacers from 2021 to 2023, and one season with the Kings in 2023-24.
