Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson of Bagdad, Florida will be out for the next month with a knee injury according to Tod Leonard of Golf Digest. Watson was experiencing pain during the PGA Championship this past weekend.

The pain has been recent for Watson, and it turned out to be a torn meniscus. At the 2022 PGA Championship, Watson tied for 30th at +3.

Despite being eight strokes back of eventual champion Justin Thomas, Watson was in contention during the second major of the golf season thanks to a sizzling seven-under-par 63 in round two on Friday. In this outstanding round of major golf, Watson had nine birdies and two bogeys. However, his success did not continue over to Saturday and Sunday, as he shot a three-over-par in the third round, and a a five-over-par in the fourth round.

Watson is currently 69th in the world. His best result in 2022 was a second place finish at the 2022 Saudi International, where he shot a four-round score of -12, and one shot back of the eventual champion, Harold Varner III. The Saudi International is not on the PGA Tour, but the Asian Tour.

In the last few months, Watson has been linked to the new Saudi-tour which is run by Greg Norman of Australia. However, with this recent injury, it is unlikely he will participate in the opening tournament in London, England. Even if Watson was interested in participating, he would have to battle the PGA Tour. That is because the PGA is not releasing its players to participate in this newly organized tour as of yet.
