Browns continue to face injury woes on offense and defense

According to the Associated Press, the Cleveland Browns’s issue with injuries during the 2023 regular season is continuing. We have already discussed the fact Cleveland has had to win with four starting quarterbacks and saw their four-time Pro Bowl running back Nick Chubb go down with an injury in week two.

Now the Browns are facing more injuries. Earlier this week Cleveland announced that offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. of Lexington, Kentucky would need season-ending knee surgery. Then on Wednesday, the Browns announced that safety Grant Delpit of New Orleans, Louisiana would be on the injury reserve with a groin injury.

Wills Jr. is in his fourth season with the Browns in 2023. In eight games this season, he recorded his first career fumble recovery. Last season, Wills Jr. had his first career solo tackle. A first round pick, 10th overall in the 2020 National Football League Draft, Wills Jr. has not played since November 5.

Delpit has played three seasons now for Cleveland. In 2023, he has played 13 games and has 80 combined tackles (63 solo tackles and 17 assisted tackles), seven tackles for a loss, four quarterback hits, one interception, three pass deflections, one fumble recovery for 14 yards, and one and a half sacks.

You could make the argument that the Browns are in the best and most competitive division in the entire NFL. All four teams are above .500. Despite all the injuries, Cleveland is getting inspired quarterbacking from Joe Flacco at the moment, and they are at eight wins and five losses. Baltimore leads at 10 wins and three losses. Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are at seven wins and six losses.
