Brian Campbell wins 2025 John Deere Classic

For the second time in 2025, Brian Campbell of Orange County, California is a winner in a playoff on the PGA Tour. After winning the Mexico Open this past February, Campbell won the 2025 John Deere Classic at the TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.

Campbell was in a playoff on Sunday with Emiliano Grillo of Argentina. Both golfers posted scores of -18. Campbell had a first round score of six-under-par 65, a second round score of five-under-par 66, a third round score of three-under-par 68, and a fourth round score of four-under-par 67.

It was not always smooth sailing for Campbell over the weekend. He actually had a double bogey six on the par four 14th hole on Sunday. On this particular hole, Campbell had a tee shot that went out of bounds. Prior to the tee shot, Campbell had a one stroke lead, and after the tee shot, he ended up one stroke back of Grillo. Campbell bounced back and forced a playoff with a birdie on the 17th hole. In the playoff, Campbell won with a par on the 18th hole.

There were 15 golfers in contention. Americans Kevin Roy and David Lipsky tied for third place at -17. There were six golfers tied for fifth place at -16. Those two strokes back and in fifth place were Americans Carson Young, 2009 United States Open champion Lucas Glover, Jacob Bridgeman, Matt Kuchar, Kurt Kitayama, and Max Homa. Then there were seven golfers tied for 11th place at -15 and three strokes back. This group of seven contained Americans Beau Hossler, Nick Dunlap, Denny McCarthy, Austin Eckroat, and amateur Jackson Koivun, along with the Philippines’s Rico Hoey and South Korea’s Si Woo Kim.
