Bradley Beal ties Wizards franchise record for most points in a game

Bradley Beal of St. Louis, Missouri tied the Washington Wizards franchise record for most points in a game on Wednesday according to nba.com. The 27-year-old shooting guard had 60 points in a 141-136 Wizards loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.
Beal tied the Wizards record previously set by Gilbert Arenas of Tampa, Florida on December 17, 2006. However, 15 years ago the fate was better for the Wizards than it was last night, as Washington beat the Los Angeles Lakers 147-141.
On Wednesday, Beal had 13 points in the first quarter, 19 points in the second quarter, 25 points in the third quarter, and three points in the fourth quarter. In addition to the 60 points, Beal had seven rebounds and five assists. He made 20 of 35 field goals, seven of 10 shots from three-point range, and 13 of 15 free throws.
However, the Wizards have a tendency to lose when Beal has a great game. Last year when Beal reached the 40-point plateau, the Wizards had a horrendous record of one win and nine losses. This was the first time this season that Beal reached the 40-point plateau.
The Wizards were hoping with Russell Westbrook, that they would turn things around this season. However, Washington continues to struggle. They are at two wins and six losses after eight games to start the year.

This is the 20th time in NBA history that a player has scored 60 points in a game and lost. The most points a player has scored in a losing cause was Wilt Chamberlain, who scored 78 points in a 151-147 Philadelphia Warriors loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on December 8, 1961.
Beal is also the second player this season to score 60 points in a game. Stephen Curry had 62 points for the Golden State Warriors in a 137-122 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on January 3.
