Blue Jays clobber the Yankees to take 2-0 ALDS series lead

The Toronto Blue Jays are one win away from reaching the American League Championship Series. What was the most stunning from the Blue Jays play on the weekend is how they won. They absolutely pounded the New York Yankees. In two games, the Jays outscored the Bronx Bombers 23-8. They won game one 10-1 and then game two 13-7.

What we saw this past weekend was the emergence of Blue Jays rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage of Pottsdown, Pennsylvania, who was amazing. Yesavage threw 5 1/3 no-hit shutout innings, and gave the Blue Jays everything they could have possibly dreamt of. The righthander threw 78 pitches and had 11 strikeouts compared to one walk.

It was the offense that was flying on all cylinders too. Toronto completely rocked formidable starting pitchers Luis Gil and Max Fried. After having a combined regular season earned run average of 2.96, Gil and Fried now have a combined postseason earned run average of 6.75, which is simply terrible.

The Blue Jays are getting incredible offensive production from Daulton Varsho and Vladimir Guerrero. They have combined to have 12 hits, 10 runs batted in and seven extra base hits.

The other American League Divisional Series is tied at one. The Detroit Tigers beat the Seattle Mariners 3-2 on Saturday in 11 innings, and the Mariners came back with a 3-2 win on Sunday thanks to two home runs by Jorge Polanco off of Tarik Skubal.

In the National League, the Brewers clobbered the Cubs 9-3 thanks to six first inning runs on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Dodgers beat the Phillies 5-3 thanks to a three-run home run by Teoscar Hernandez.
