The replays and sectionals have been reviewed from Saturday’s Hunter meeting at Newcastle. Our analyst has black booked an exciting 2yo that ran slashing time and a forgive out of the Hunter.

The Snowden colt debuted on the back of a really sharp trial win. The market stalled on him a little after his trainer stated that he was a little coltish. He showed no sign of this in the yard prior to the race appearing to warm to his role on race day. He jumped straight to the lead and showed a high cruising speed and had them all off the bit chasing before the turn. He then sprinted away to record a 1.7L win. The time was of real note recording a new class record of 50.67s/32.62s, which was only 0.48s outside the track record. He looks one to follow towards the Magic Millions.

It’s not often you want to be following a horse that finished 11.3L last, especially as a heavily backed favourite, but after vets reported he pulled up with cardiac arrhythmia he should definitely not be binned. He often see good horses bounce back in a big way after the having this issue with their heart rate post race. There may be a market edge heading towards races like the Ingham.
