Black Book: Horses You Must Follow From Moonee Valley 22/10
3 years ago - Sportingbase
Our form analyst has looked over the replays & sectional times from Cox Plate day and has placed his list of horses you must follow below.
BAY THIRTEEN
Great effort from the three-year-old filly to hold for second behind Wee Nessy. She was in the early charge of securing the lead. Then kicked clear and although she was entitled to throw in the towel she made Wee Nessy, who had sat back in the early stages, fight to beat her.

CLIMBING STAR
She has the makings of a top-class three-year-old filly. The only reason she went down in a photo was that she put in an awkward stride near the winning post. She was also on the fence in the slower part of the track. She was also having only her second start and it was also over 1600 metres. And to top it all off, her jockey Zac Spain said she didn’t handle the heavy track!

GOLD TRIP
Big run in the Cox Plate even though he finished eighth but he was only beaten three lengths and his English jockey Jamie Spencer seemed to have him awkwardly placed and in the wrong spot for The Valley the entire race. RV stewards noted he began awkwardly, near the 300m he was disappointed for a run and then he was held up on the heels of Zaaki over the concluding stages. He’s a legitimate Melbourne Cup chance.

STEINEM
She was left a bit flat-footed when the sprint went on in the Tesio Stakes. Her best work was late and she’s screaming out for 2000 metres which she will get in the Matriarch Stakes on the final day of the Flemington carnival.
