Black Book: Horses You Must Back Next Start From Canterbury 30/1

The replays and sectional times have been analysed from Friday night’s Canterbury meeting. We’ve black booked a pair of runners that should be hard to beat in the right race next start.

Watson

The Waterhouse/Bott 3yo jumped well and was taken straight to the front. He wasn’t given much peace being eye-balled by Zale 200m before the turn. He produced a massive kick at the top of the straight and put a gap on them to visually be the most impressive winner on the the night with a 3.1L win. He ran 1.01s quicker than the fillies and mare in the same BM72 company later in the night. It always has the potential to be a trap following on-speed winners at Canterbury onto bigger tracks in Saturday company, particularly Randwick, but that win on the back of a 2.8L win at Kembla 1st up suggests he is capable of taking it to better company.

Maybe Moet

The Waller mare was a terrific 0.3L 2nd 1st up over 1250m settling back in the field and making great ground up the straight. She will improve with added fitness off that run and will appreciate stepping up in trip on a bigger track.
