Billy Horschel leads after the third round of the 2024 British Open

Billy Horschel of Grant-Valkaria, Florida is the leader after the third round of the 2024 British Open in Royal Troon. Scotland. On Saturday, Horschel is currently at four-under-par.

Horschel shot a score of two-under-par in round three. He had four birdies and two bogeys. Horschel birdied the fourth, sixth, seventh, and ninth holes, and bogeyed the 11th and 18th holes.

Horschel was at +1 after round one. On Thursday, he had three bogeys and two birdies. He had bogeys on the fourth, fifth and 10th holes, and then birdies on the 16th and 17th holes. Then on Friday, Horschel improved to two-under-par after posting a score of three-under-par 68. In the second round, he had four birdies and one bogey. A huge West Ham United fan, who wears his hat on backwards, Horschel birdied the first, second, eighth, and 16th holes, and bogeyed the third hole.

There is a six-way tie for second place at -3. Those one stroke back of Horschel are 2013 United States Open champion and 2016 Olympic gold medalist Justin Rose of London, England, 2020 Olympic Gold medalist in 2021 and the 2024 PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele of San Diego, California, England’s Daniel Brown of Northallerton (the round one leader of the 2024 British Open), Americans Russell Henley of Macon, Georgia, and Sam Burns of Shreveport, Louisiana, and South Africa’s Thriston Lawrence.

There is only one player two strokes back in eighth place at -2. That is 2022 and 2024 Masters champion Scottie Scheffler of Ridgewood, New Jersey. There is only one player three strokes back at -1 in ninth place. That is 2019 British Open champion and the round two leader of the British Open, Shane Lowry of Clara, Ireland.

Also on Saturday, we saw the very first hole in one on the 17th hole in the 10-time history that Royal Troon has hosted the British Open. It was accomplished by Si Woo Kim of South Korea. Kim is in 40th place at +5.
